Our firm has extensive experience in privatization and public tender procedures. Since 1992 the government of Panama instituted a privatization program of public services, facilities and state owned companies. Currently, the program has resulted in the successful privatization of the telephone and power companies, a cement factory, sugar mills, ports and railroad services, industrial plantations, a horse track, casinos and several hotels.
ANORCO has actively participated in many of these projects during all the stages of the privatization and public tender procedures, to wit:
In 1994, Anorco represented one of the world's largest cement manufacturing companies in the public tender process for the successful purchase of the shares of Cemento Bayano, the state owned cement company.
In 1996, our firm represented a major Spanish consortium in the public tender of the State owned convention center (ATLAPA).
In 1997, our firm assisted the government of Panama in all legal aspects pertaining to the privatization of the state owned electric company (IRHE), which was eventually divided into four generation companies and three distribution companies.
The very next year, Anorco represented a major United States power generating company, which participated in the public tender of the power companies.
This unique experience provided ANORCO with the enviable opportunity to participate both in the public and private aspects of the privatization process.
